Combining the appeal of a small town lifestyle with big city amenities, Charlottesville is an ideal place to call home. My family and I moved from Connecticut to Charlottesville and we immediately fell in love with the natural beauty of the area. The list of reasons why goes on and on: the Blue Ridge Mountains and Skyline Drive, the stunning horse farms, the moderate climate, the anticipation of the changing seasons and so many other natural attractions that make Charlottesville unique. We wanted to live in a "college town", and take maximum advantage of the social, cultural and athletic enrichment that a University contributes to a region. Well, the University of Virginia, and the world renowned UVA Medical Center, more than satisfies that desire. Similarly, Charlottesville is a town rich in political history, and my family and I have visited many of the area's historical destinations, not to mention Washington, D.C., just a couple of hours drive away. But, most importantly, my husband and I love Charlottesville - as does our 15 year-old son and his two older brothers, Matt and Zack - because we have met so many new friends; interesting, caring people from all walks of life, people who share a pride in their community, people who value education, diversity and family. Charlottesville is routinely ranked by magazines, newspapers and survey takers as one of the best places in the country to live. These organizations are correct - it is! |
